Mission Statement
The mission for St. Basil of Ostrog Children’s Program strives to instill, maintain, reinforce, and expand the knowledge and practice of spiritual values, rich customs, and ethnic traditions of our Serbian Orthodox faith and culture.
Vision Statement
The vision for the future of St. Basil of Ostrog Serbian Orthodox Children’s Program is to establish a stable Christian Orthodox educational environment by:
- Encouraging all students from Pre-K age to seniors in high school to participate in our Sunday School and Friday Cultural Program.
- Making our Sunday School spiritually enriching for our children and instilling in our students the importance of participating in the Divine Liturgy, during which we partake in the Holy Eucharist, receiving spiritual nourishment and strength through our communion with God.
- Developing an understanding and an appreciation of the historical and cultural influences and contributions so that we can promote and preserve our Serbian heritage through folk dance, music, history and language.
Expectations:
- Work with your children to grow in Christ by encouraging them to attend Sunday School regularly and on
time. - Take an interest in your child’s Sunday School classwork. Discuss the lessons after church, while they are still fresh in their minds, preferably on the way home from church.
- Have your child practice the hymns or dances at home that they learned during their cultural classes.
