The NIKA House – “A great place to live, study, and form lasting relationships.”

In 2004, the Orthodox Christian Student Living Center (OCSLC), also known as the NIKA House, was opened as the first on campus residence in the United States for young men and women of the Orthodox Faith. The NIKA House ( and is located at 112 E. John St. in Champaign.

The NIKA House offers single furnished rooms for rent for both men and women. The rooms are air conditioned; they have DSL; the Dish Network; and each room contains a refrigerator. For rental information, please contact Foti Kutil, House Manager @  Fr. Michael ( serves as the spiritual advisor to the OCF.

On Tuesday evenings, a complimentary dinner (6:00pm) and spiritual discussion is held at the Living Center during the academic year. On the lower level, Divine Services are conducted periodically throughout the year in the Chapel of St. Philip the Apostle - the patron Saint for the OCF. Father also has pastoral office hours at the House, meeting students by appointment as needed. 

Student Campus Ministry leaders will arrange for transportation for students wanting to attend the Sunday Services.

In addition to rental income, donations are being sought for the ongoing support of the house and the infrastructure of this vital ministry. Please contact either Foti Kutil or Fr. Michael for more information about giving opportunities.  

NIKA House is a residence for men and women attending the University of Illinois. It is owned and operated by the Orthodox Christian Alumni in Action and is a member of the university’s Private Certified Housing. NIKA House provides students with a unique living opportunity. The Orthodox Christian Fellowship on the campus of the University of Illinois calls NIKA House it’s home. The center is used for regular weekly meetings and social events. The OCF makes use of the center’s facilities, including a large meeting/media room, library, kitchen and dining area, and the Chapel of St. Philip the Apostle.

NIKA House, along with the Chapel of St. Philip in the center’s basement, is under
the spiritual jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago. The House
Director is Foti Kutil.

For the 2016-2017 academic year NIKA House is opened to all male University of Illinois students.

NIKA HOUSE IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, STUDY, AND FORM LASTING RELATIONSHIPS.  Conveniently located one block from Green Street, NIKA House offers a great selection of features for student living at affordable prices. It has perhaps the largest private rooms on campus (16), with full-sized beds, built-in desks, and large closets. There are also quiet rooms for studying and areas for fun and relaxing.
